 As (American/Canadian) talkback caller 'Margaret' put it last night (in a day/night of tributes to Russell), a real compassionate conservative... ...one whose nightly 'ministrations' ever brought comfort, encouragement and succour to the marginalized 'silent majority'... Never afraid to call a liar a liar or a dissembler a dissembler, Bruce wasn't one to suffer fools gladly... You'll be - sorely - missed, Bruce, which is a heckuva lot more than one will ever be able to say about the vast number of your media contemporaries here, there and everywhere...

As I DIDN'T Suggest When Beginning Blogposting Some (Almost) 10 Years Ago (Two Months Time), Louisa Walls Redeemed Herself In Spades...& Goes Down As ONE CLASSY POLITICIAN (If the Phrase Itself Ain't One Gigantic Oxymoron): In Some Respects the Diametrical Opposite of Simon Bridges, M.P. - Though, Like Him, Generally Carrying/Conducting Herself With Due Aplomb - She Stood for All Those ('Moral') Things I Deeply Oppose, Yet Was Ever & Always a Conviction Politician (Another Contradiction-in-Terms) Rather Than a Pragmatist...And the NZ Labour Party Will Be the Loser for Her Going, Though Evidently They Could Care Less...

Admittedly, like myself, not much of a 'team player' - itself rather odd considering she led the *Black Caps/Silver Ferns in times gone by...  *Admittedly thereby showing up my utter lack of sporting knowledge...
